Fireweed green tea is inspired by Chinese green teas.
After traveling to Asia to study tea production techniques, Julien Drouin-Bouffard developed a unique expertise in Quebec for transforming fireweed, a plant common to our northern territory, into tea.
The tea he produces distinguishes itself from the herbal teas we are accustomed to through the processing techniques used. While for herbal teas, the leaves or flowers of the plants are simply dried at a low temperature, to produce fireweed tea, its leaves are withered, rolled, oxidized, and oven-dried once harvested.
The result of this work in the case of fireweed green tea is a fresh, delicate, and slightly buttery tea with toasted notes on the finish.
