Thés du Nord black willowherb tea is produced from wild plants from Quebec territory and processed in the same way as black tea imported from Asia.
Julien Drouin-Bouffard travelled to Asia to study tea production techniques and develop unique expertise in Quebec in processing fireweed, a common plant in our northern territory.
The tea he produces stands out from the herbal teas we're used to because of the processing techniques employed. While herbal teas simply involve drying the leaves or flowers of plants at low temperatures, to produce fireweed tea, the harvested leaves are withered, rolled, oxidized, and oven-dried. The result is a well-rounded, flavorful, and truly unique beverage.
