Thés du Nord fireweed black tea is produced from wild plants harvested in Quebec and processed in the style of black teas imported from Asia.
Julien Drouin-Bouffard traveled to Asia to study tea production techniques and develop a unique expertise in Quebec for processing fireweed, a common plant in our northern territory.
The tea he produces stands out from the herbal teas we are accustomed to due to the processing techniques used. While herbal teas are simply made by drying plant leaves or flowers at low temperatures, to produce fireweed tea, the harvested leaves are withered, rolled, oxidized, and oven-dried. The result of this work is a round, flavorful, and truly unique beverage.
